A new brand has landed at Packyard: Palmes.

Founded in Copenhagen in 2021 by Nikolaj Hansson, Palmes draws inspiration from tennis – but not just the sport itself. The brand is equally interested in the culture, clothing, and life around the court, using tennis as a starting point for a modern wardrobe that works far beyond the white lines.

The result is a blend of classic sportswear, casual menswear, and more unexpected references. Everyday clothing, pieces that can transition from the city to the court, and accessories with just the right amount of tennis nostalgia.

Tennis without a dress code

Palmes was created from a desire to give tennis a more progressive and open expression.

Historically, the sport has been surrounded by traditions, club culture, and a rather clear dress code. Palmes takes these familiar references and moves them into a modern context.

Oxford shirts, polos, caps, sweatshirts, and classic sportswear elements are mixed with more relaxed proportions, graphic details, and references that don't necessarily belong in a traditional tennis club.

This makes Palmes interesting, even if you've never held a racket.

From jeu de paume to Palmes

Even the name draws threads back through tennis history.

Palmes comes from jeu de paume – a game that was played in France as early as the 15th century and is considered one of the precursors to modern tennis.

At that time, the racket had not yet been introduced. The ball was instead hit with the palm of the hand – paume in French.

This historical starting point fits well with Palmes' approach: Tennis is the foundation, but the brand is interested in interpreting the culture rather than just reproducing it.

Palmes at Packyard

Our first selection from Palmes ranges from wardrobe staples to accessories, giving a good impression of the brand's universe.

Serve Shirt – Blue Check takes a classic shirt in a more relaxed direction, while Deuce Oxford Shirt – Blue Stripe works with one of menswear's most recognizable silhouettes.

For darker layers, you'll find the Worker Jacket – Black and Panel LS Zip Polo – Charcoal, while Lucien Ripstop Trousers – Navy and Coarse Trousers – Brown offer different takes on casual trousers.

Western meets tennis

One of the more unexpected directions in the collection is the meeting of tennis and Western references.

Western Camp Collar Shirt – Off-White, Western T-Shirt – Charcoal and Western 6-Panel Cap – Charcoal move Palmes away from the classic country club and into a more playful universe.

It is precisely in these combinations that the brand becomes interesting. Tennis is always present in the background, but doesn't have to dictate the entire look.

The details around the court

The Palmes universe doesn't stop at clothing.

At Packyard, you'll also find I’d Hit That Cap – Green, Logo Caps, Logo Tennis Socks, Vilas Tennis Towel, Porch Bandana and Ball Large Tote Bag – Off-White.

Small references to the sport that work just as naturally in everyday life as on the way to the court.

This is perhaps where Palmes' idea is clearest: You don't have to dress like a tennis player to be part of the culture.

More than tenniswear

Palmes describes itself as a modern menswear brand inspired by tennis, and that distinction is important.

It's not about performance clothing or creating yet another traditional tennis uniform. Instead, Palmes uses the sport as a cultural starting point for shirts, tees, trousers, jackets, knitwear, and accessories that are primarily made to be worn in everyday life.

Copenhagen roots, classic tennis, modern menswear, and a good dose of humor.

See you on the courts.
